Google sites are used in AI overview

I searched for best google indexing tool. It turns out, that the top citation in AI overview is a free Google site.. This Google site also has a clickable link inside the text in AI overview..

This is wild, as the competition in that niche is tough... I know, as I own an indexing service..

Before the september spam update I literally never saw a Google site ranking for anything even remotely competitive. Now I see  them all the time..

The interesting thing is, this google site is not even ranking on page one, but its still getting cited..

I guess Google really loves Google...

Have you started using Google sites yet?
